If you are contemplating or planning a migration from TestOut Server Pro 2016: Install & Storage, TestOut Server Pro: Networking, and TestOut Server Pro 2016: Identity 4.0 the following information may be helpful.
A key differentiator for our new Server course is the additional coverage we include. With AZ-800, and the discontinuance of the 740-742 exams, Microsoft has moved the barrier to entry for their server certification. As cloud continues to see further adoption, the new skills are essential, but there is no replacement for the existing on-premise content. Microsoft now recommends several years of server administration as a pre-requisite for the AZ-800 and AZ-801 exams. In Hybrid Server Pro: Core, we include the foundational concepts that students would learn through on the job experience that Microsoft requires. This coverage means our course better prepares students that are not ready for the exam according to Microsoft’s expectations. Topics covered in this include:
- Server Installation
- Server Roles
- PowerShell Intro
- Initial Configuration of Server
- Cloud Concepts
- Azure Concepts
- Complete IP Addressing Introduction
- DHCP Introduction
- DNS Introduction
- Complete Introduction to Active Directory
- Complete Introduction to Group Policy
- Complete Introduction to on-premises storage
- On-premises File Storage
- Introduction to Hyper-V
- Introduction to Remote Access and VPNs
This means Hybrid Server Pro: Core will be larger than Hybrid Server Pro: Advanced. Our current estimate is that Hybrid Server Pro: Advanced will comprise of about 2/3 the amount of content as Core.
Q: When will Hybrid Server Pro: Advanced be released?
A: It is in planning and development with release still TBD. However, here is a Draft Course Outline for TestOut Hybrid Server: Advanced
Q: When will TestOut Server Pro 2016 courses be retired?
A: These courses are not scheduled to retire as the objectives and skills taught are still applicable and needed for on-premise server roles in todays job market. We may schedule a retirement date once the Advanced course is completed after further evaluation.
