Custom exams offer the flexibility for you to create a variety of tests whether you want those to be a pop quiz, chapter exam, mid-term or final. You can create exams as far in advance as you like because students will not be able to take a test until it is scheduled.

Steps
- Click the Custom Exams tab.
- If you are looking for an exam another instructor has created or the Office end-of-chapter exams TestOut created click View to select a different user under Created By. You can also filter by Product under this view.
- Click Add.
- Enter Exam Name.
- Click the Post-exam Viewing Options For Detailed Answers drop down and choose your preference.
- Enter Instructions For Students (optional).
- Enter Passing Score (optional).
- Enter Time Limit (optional).
- Enter Instructor Notes (optional).
- Click Go to Questions & Labs.
- In Exam Type click the drop down to choose your option.
- Click Select Questions.
- Click the Source drop down and choose the product you want questions selected from.
- Click the Filters drop down and choose your options.
- Click a Chapter or Section topic and questions will automatically load.
- Click the box by each question you want to add to your exam.
- Under Actions you can choose to Add all these items.
- Under Actions you can also choose to Remove all of these items. This will only remove from the Chapter or Section topic highlighted.
- Select additional Chapter or Section Topics to choose additional questions.
- When finished selecting questions, click Done.
- Click the eye icon to view the entire question.
- Click the trash can icon to remove the question from your exam.
- Click the Schedule Exam link to schedule the test before exiting or schedule later.
- Click Done.
- To edit your exam simply click the exam name, make any changes, and click Done.
Unlike the quizzes in the course that students can repeat, these tests by default are limited to one attempt unless you change that during the scheduling process thus providing great assessment exams.
Note to LMS users – custom exams created in TestOut can be linked to your LMS. No scheduling is required in TestOut unless you want students to have more than one attempt.
