Many schools choose to integrate their TestOut coursework with a Learning Management System (LMS) such as Canvas, Blackboard, or Moodle. Students then access their TestOut course material by launching links in their LMS class page.
How can these students continue to access their TestOut material after they lose access to the links in their LMS class page?
Method 1 - Best (Only applies if the student account already has a username. All new LMS-generated accounts made after 10/27/2020 were automatically given a username. Can be done anytime by student.)
a. The student should go to TestOut.com and click Login.
b. Click 'Forgot your username or password?'
c. Enter the student email address (the same email address that the school LMS has listed), and click Send Email.
d. Use your username (likely the email address your school portal has for you) and the temporary password that is sent to you on the login page within 12 hours or requesting the temporary password.
e. After logging in with the temporary password, you'll will be prompted to make a real password.
f. You may log in on TestOut.com's login page with your username and password going forward.
Method 2 (Can only be done before the student loses access to the TestOut links in their class page. Performed by the student.)
a. Click any non-exam LMS link to launch into TestOut from your class page.
b. Click the white home icon in the upper right left area to go to the LabSim account home page.
c. Click on the student name in the top right area.
d. Click 'My Profile'.
e. If no username field is shown, click 'Add Standard LabSim Login'. If a username field is already shown, skip this step.
f. Edit the contents of the login field to be the desired unique username, or leave it as is.
g. Click Save if any changes were made in steps e or f.
h. Click the 'PASSWORD & RECOVERY' tab in the left column.
i. Click 'Change password', enter a password, and click 'Update'.
j. Going forward, go to testout.com and click Login to continue to access your TestOut material.
Method 3 (Can be done anytime by the instructor)
a. Click any non-exam LMS link to launch into TestOut from your class page.
b. Click the white home icon in the upper right left area to go to the LabSim account home page.
c. Click the name of the class in which a student wishes to retain or regain access.
d. Click on the name of the student.
e. If no username field is shown, click 'Add Standard LabSim Login'. If a username field is already shown, skip to step g.
f. Edit the contents of the login field to be a unique username (such as their email address).
f. Click Save.
g. Provide the student(s) their username(s) and instructions to go to testout.com's login page and click 'Forgot your username or password?' to get a temporary password emailed to them OR click the 'PASSWORD & RECOVERY' tab and click 'Generate temporary password' and either read them the password or click the button to email it to them.
h. After they get and use a temporary password, they will be prompted to make a real password.
Method 4 (Can be done anytime by student)
a. Send an email to Support@TestOut.com to request a username and temporary password.
b. Make sure to send it from the email account associated to your school LMS.
c. Include your full name and your school's name.
d. Wait for TestOut's support department to email you back with credentials and further instructions.
