CompTIA is committed to protecting the privacy of children under the age of 13, and we comply with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act.
Alert: This feature is automatically turned on for every organization and requires all students to verify their age by entering a birth month and year. Once entered, students under the age of 13 are required to gain special permission from teachers or parents to create an account or request a password reset.
Tip: If your facility does not have students under the age of 13 and/or you prefer students not to enter their birth month and year, this feature can be suppressed.
If your facility has students under the age of 13 you can choose to suppress this age verification by agreeing to handle COPPA compliance concerns within your organization. This will allow for an easier and quicker setup process.
The age verification can be suppressed as follows.
Alert: IMPORTANT - This must be completed by someone within your organization with platform administrator rights.
1. Select Institutions or Institution Details on the My Institutions tab.
2. Select Institutions or Institution Settings.
3. Under Age Verification for COPPA Compliance click the box by Suppress age verification for COPPA compliance.
4. Click Confirm to save the change.
Alert: Please note: CompTIA employees are NOT authorized to make this adjustment. However, an employee can assist an administrator with making this change.
Tip: Once the suppress option has been turned on, students will not be required to enter a birth month and year. Also, students under the age of 13 will not be required to have special permission when setting up their accounts or requesting password resets.
